Peluncuran buku tersebut guna memberikan inspirasi atas pengalamannya sehingga diharapkan menumbuhkan semangat nasionalisme para atlet untuk meningkatkan prestasi ketingkat internasional kedepannya. Alex membawa Indonesia meraih 3 medali perak di Asian Games X Seoul Korea Selatan 1986, 3 medali perak di Olimpiade XXV Barcelona Spanyol tahun 1992 dan 3 medali emas di Eropa Open Belgia tahun 1992.
